Privacy Policy of the University of Wrocław

In accordance with Appendix No. 2 to the UWr Information Services Regulations to Ordinance No. 142/2019 of the Rector of the University of Wrocław of 19 November 2019

I. Information on the processing of personal data on the University of Wrocław websites

  1. The University of Wrocław attaches particular importance to respecting privacy, including the privacy of users visiting the University’s websites.
  2. The University of Wrocław, whose registered office is at pl. Uniwersytecki 1, 50-137 Wrocław, acts as the data controller within the meaning of the GDPR (Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC) and ensures that the processing of personal data of users of the UWr websites complies with the law.
  3. The University has appointed a Data Protection Officer who can be contacted at: IOD@uwr.edu.pl.
  4. If any data collected during the use of UWr websites can be regarded as personal data, the University complies with the principles set out in the GDPR and other data protection legislation, in particular ensuring that:
    • 1) personal data are processed lawfully, fairly and transparently, and collected for specified, explicit and legitimate purposes;
    • 2) only data that are necessary and accurate are collected, and retained only for as long as necessary;
    • 3)personal data are processed in a secure manner based on a risk assessment.
  5. User data from the UWr websites may be disclosed only to authorised and verified entities with which appropriate agreements have been concluded, as well as to entities entitled to receive such data under applicable law.
  6. The University of Wrocław ensures that any person acting under its authority who has access to personal data processes such data only on the University’s instructions.
  7. The University of Wrocław takes the necessary measures to ensure that the rights of users of the UWr websites relating to the processing of personal data are properly respected, in particular that:
    • 1) communication is carried out in a transparent manner;
    • 2) appropriate information and access to personal data are provided;
    • 3) requests submitted by users are fulfilled, including requests for rectification or erasure of data and the right to object to processing.
  8. The University endeavours to comply with its obligations under the GDPR and other data protection legislation. However, users of the UWr websites have the right to lodge a complaint with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office.

II. Information about cookies on the University of Wrocław websites

  1. Personal data relating to users are not disclosed or transferred to third parties.
  2. When you visit our website, cookies may be stored on your device which contain, among other things, your IP address, your internet service provider, information on how you navigate the site (e.g. which pages you visit), and the name of the browser you use.
  3. Cookies can be deactivated or completely disabled in your browser settings; however, this may prevent you from logging in to the website, as this functionality requires cookies to be enabled.
  4. The number of visits to our website is monitored using Google Analytics in order to collect information about the popularity of the website and how it is used. By accepting our cookie policy, you consent to the analysis of your data by Google Analytics.
