Academic Memorial Candle
Through publishing prof. Wojciech Browarny’s appeal concerning this years “Academic Memorial Candle” campaign, we want to encourage the academic staff of our University to instill in their students the need of cultivating the memory of those passed, who once formed an academic community. Perhaps visiting the resting places of the former mentors of our University of Wrocław is the best opportunity to do so.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Colleagues,
This year, as in the years prior, the University Committee for the Care of Graves of University of Wrocław Deserved Members will conduct the “Academic Memorial Candle” campaign in the last days of October. Its aim is to cultivate the memory of the deceased members of our university community, as well as to provide practical care for their resting places in Wrocław cemeteries. For this reason, together we are going to clean their graves, lay flowers and light candles.
Members of the university community, employees, students, who have the memory of our predecessors at heart, are asked for help and encouraged to take part in the campaign. On October 27-28, after prior arrangement with the Coordinator of the action, Urszula Rozpara, candles along with a special sticker, map and information about the scope and places of our activities will be ready to be picked up at the Museum of the University of Wrocław.
Each and every one of us is free to go at any convenient time, to any selected Wrocław cemetery (covered by our campaign).
Those willing to join the campaign are asked to contact the coordinator and member of the committee, Urszula Rozpara, in person, by email or by phone (urszula.rozpara@uwr.edu.pl, tel. +48 71 375 28 91).
