Irena Sendler Memorial Award

Last Friday, prof. Marcin Wodziński, head of the Chair of Judaic Studies (Faculty of Letters), received a very important prize awarded in the USA. Previous winners include prof. Maria Janion, Polish President Aleksander Kwaśniewski and Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz. For more information, click here.

Marcin Wodziński – a professor of Jewish history and literature, head of the Chair of Jewish Studies at the University of Wrocław. His area of academic interest is the social history of Jews in the 19th century, the history of Jews in Silesia and Jewish material culture. He is the author of numerous publications, including books: Hebrajskie inskrypcje na Śląsku XIII–XVIII w. (1996); Bibliography on the History of Silesian Jewry II (2004); Haskalah and Hasidism in the Kingdom of Poland. A History of Conflict (2005); Władze Królestwa Polskiego wobec chasydyzmu (2008); Hasidism and Politics (2013); Historical Atlas of Hasidism (2018); Hasidism. Key Questions (2018). Editor of the Bibliotheca Judaica series of the Wrocław University Publishing House and the Makor series.
