The function of the Rector’s representative for the IDUB project (Excellence Initiative – Research University) is taken over by prof. dr hab. Dariusz Rakus, professor of biological sciences, biochemist and physiologist, as of 15 July 2023.
Prof. Dariusz Rakus (born 1968) is head of the Department of Molecular Physiology and Neurobiology at the Faculty of Biological Sciences, UWr.
The research interests of Prof. Dariusz Rakus include issues of neurodegeneration, cardio- and myopathy and tumourigenesis. His research involves both understanding the molecular and cellular basis of neuronal plasticity and metabolism processes in the above-mentioned organs and tissues, as well as ways of reversing pathological and senile changes in the brain and heart and selectively destroying tumour cells.
Prof. Rakus is actively involved in the Polish Biochemical Society as the President of the Wrocław branch and a member of the Main Board; in addition, he has chaired the Organising and Scientific Committees of many international scientific conferences.
As Rector’s representative for IDUB, he intends to prepare our University as well as possible for the interim evaluation of the project.
