Competition for a philosophical book
The second edition of the Kazimierz Twardowski competition for the best philosophical book of the year is ahead of us. The winner will receive a prize of PLN 40.000.
Books for the competition can be submitted until April 30, 2024. The competition will be decided on the National Day of Philosophy in September 2024.
The prize, named after Kazimierz Twardowski, the remarkable philosopher, the father of contemporary Polish philosophy (founder of the Lvov-Warsaw School), passionate teacher, and popularizer of science, is given once a year for outstanding work from the field of philosophy. Except for the selection of the winning work, the contest aims to popularize philosophy and the reading of philosophical literature.
In the first edition of the competition in 2022, the winning book was ”Ontology of God” by prof. Marek Łagosz from the University of Wrocław.
We have asked the researcher for the encouragement of participation in the competition. “Professors from the leading academic centers, who hold the positions of the excellent competition committee members, guarantee a high level of the competition content.” –
says Prof. Marek Langosz – “The organization of the event runs smoothly, the rules are clear, and the terms are easy to meet. My experience of the competition gala was very positive: the discussion panel was substantively momentous, presentations of the finalists’ works were accurate and essential, and the atmosphere of the whole event (including the formal dinner) was exceptionally pleasant. Finally, the financial aspect: the award is truly befitting. It is really worth it!”
Books for the competition have to be submitted in their first edition in Polish during the year preceding the year of the submittal (2023) for the award.
