Co Pan na to, Panie P?

Thanking prof. Leszek Pułka’s colleagues and friends from the Institute of Journalism and Social Communication for his years of wonderful experience, they have planned an unusual surprise.

Published by WUWr, the book “Co Pan na to, Panie P.?” is a fascinating journey through various aspects of prof. Leszek Pułka’s life and work. Present the professor and his activities from different perspectives, from his student days to the present day, showing his versatility and constant interest in everyday life in various aspects. The sections “Kultura” and “Komunikacja” contain articles addressing issues ranging from research on fact-checking and branding practices to reflections on urban space, Polish emigration, culture, art and historical retrospectives. The chapter “Co Pan na to Panie P.? Pytają znajomi z Akademii Sztuk Pięknych we Wrocławiu” brings art works and comments by artists connected to the second, besides the University of Wrocław, university important in the scientific biography of prof. Leszek Pułka.

The collection, edited by dr Patrycja Rozbicka from the Institute of Journalism and Social Communication and prof. Wiesław Gołuch from the Media Art Department at the E. Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, is not only in the nature of a jubilee book, but also has scientific and cognitive value, taking up important topics for contemporary media studies. We heartily recommend this publication: https://wuwr.eu/produkt/co-pan-na-to-panie-p/ !

Johann Jacob Eybelwieser młodszy – wrocławski malarz doby baroku

Despite the passage of centuries and the rich literature on the subject, Baroque painting still holds many secrets. The University of Wrocław Press is currently finalising work on a book introducing the world to Johann Jacob Eybelwieser the Younger, regarded as one of the leading and most prolific painters active in eighteenth-century Wrocław. Eybelweiser’s life and the organisation of his workshop are reminiscent of the case of the great master of an earlier generation, Michael Willmann, known as the Silesian Rembrandt.

Marek Kwaśny — art historian, assistant professor at the Institute of Art History at the University of Wrocław since 2022 – has examined the life and work of the artist in detail, presenting them in a classical and modern perspective at the same time. In addition to the extremely interesting story of the Baroque painter, the pages of the book contain over 260 illustrations, including a clearly structured catalogue of 230 works by the artist created from the beginning of his independent artistic career in 1699 until his death in 1744.
