Student Nobel laureates honored
Minister of Science Dariusz Wieczorek met with representatives of the Independent Students Union on June 25 in Warsaw. The meeting was also an opportunity to honor this year’s Student Nobel laureates.
The Student Nobel competition, which has been under the honorary patronage of our University since this year, has been organized since 2009 by the Independent Students Union. Its purpose is to recognize students for outstanding achievements in science, the artistic sphere or social activities.
Laureates are selected on the basis of criteria, among which are: grades in studies, scientific, social and artistic activities, cooperation with scientific journals, and activities in student government and student organizations. The competition is open to both public and non-public university students studying for a bachelor’s, master’s, engineering, supplementary master’s or long-cycle studies.
This year, two of our students Bartosz Rusin, a physics student, and Kacper Rosner-Leszczyński, a history student, were in the finals (https://uwr.edu.pl/en/university-of-wroclaw-students-are-finalists-of-the-student-nobel-prize/) .
The Student Nobels were handed out at a final gala in Warsaw on 25 May 2024. The award went to Kacper Rosner-Leszczyński (https://uwr.edu.pl/en/our-student-won-the-student-nobel/) .
On Tuesday, Kacper Rosner-Leszczyński received congratulations from Minister Dariusz Wieczorek (Meeting of the head of the Ministry of Science with representatives of NZS and Student Nobel laureates – Ministry of Science and Higher Education – Gov.pl Portal (www.gov.pl))
In early June, the awarded students met with the UWr Rector prof. Robert Olkiewicz. They talked about their scientific passions and studying. It turned out that Bartosz Rusin had classes in mathematical analysis with prof. Olkiewicz. Both students are also in the “Young Researcher” program.
