ABK UWr mentoring program
The mentoring program has been implemented by the Academic Career Office of the University of Wrocław for thirteen years. Recruitment for the 14th edition is currently underway. Until December 6, students can read bios of mentors and mentees and apply. This year, there are 63 specialists from various industries waiting for them.
Mentors are representatives of large corporations, foundations, associations, startups, one-person businesses. They run their businesses in Wrocław, throughout Poland, Europe. They have different work experiences, educational path, career models. They are united by a desire to support young people and a deep conviction in the importance and … effectiveness of mentoring. In addition, once again we have among our Mentors and Mentorees our staff members – UWr lecturers who are ready to support and conduct mentoring processes.
What is mentoring at the University of Wrocław? It’s six months of intense, collaborative work on the mentee’s career goals. Meetings, conversations, but also joint projects, during which the mentee gets to know the professional environment of their mentor, their professional path, successes, failures. It’s very often about involving the mentee in the mentor’s daily work, showing the real face of the business and real professional challenges. Visits with a mentor in the company, participation in conferences, networking.
Statements from the program’s graduates show that participation has brought them tangible benefits, from learning about their strengths and assets to clarifying their vision for their careers. They repeatedly emphasized what they believe to be the extraordinary strength and power of the program: a unique relationship with another person, a better knowledge and understanding of themselves and the expectations and specifics of the labor market.

“Sukces jest wynikiem właściwej decyzji,” Euripides wrote. Since the first edition of the program, more than 560 University of Wrocław students have made such a decision.
