Głosuj, broń, wybieraj. Polskie hasła polityczne z lat 1918–2020
Slogans that appear on flags, banners, and posters, during election campaigns, protests, and civil movements’ events, are not only a political communication tool, but also a reflection of the changes that Polish politics, society and public culture go through. Their content, form, and the context they are used in allow the changes in values, priorities, and politics’ practicing styles to be captured. Marta Śleziak’s latest book “Głosuj, broń, wybieraj. Polskie hasła polityczne z lat 1918-2020”, which will be released on the 26th of June, is a complex analysis of this specific form of communication – from the restoration of sovereignty to modern protests. The author reveals how the brief, concise forms have not only been a tool to agitate and shape or express feelings of the society, but also a representation of the era in which they were created. The author, by connecting different perspectives – linguistic, communicological, historical and sociological – analyzes over two thousand slogans, which appeared on flags, leaflets, posters, banners, and walls, in press or digital media.
It is an indicator of changes in Polish politics. Their content, form, and context in which they are used depict the changes of values, communication styles and political strategies. An analysis of these slogans let us catch the long-term trends, as well as the sudden shifts, which result from revolutionary social and political events. Do you want to know more?
We would like to invite you to a meeting with the author, Marta Śleziak, on the 26th of June, at 6 p.m. in the Proza club, that will be the next one of the “*Z przypisami” series organized by the University of Wrocław Press and Wrocław Literature House.

Fundamenty nowego procesu karnego
Does the Polish criminal procedure require radical changes? What values should make the foundation of a modern criminal proceedings model? The authors of the next chapters in a monograph edited by Jerzy Skorupka and Artur Kowalczyk, the leading representatives of procedural criminal law doctrine and criminal proceedings practitioners not only pose the questions above but also suggest their own answers.
“Fundamenty nowego procesu karnego” is an effect of a discussion on the form of criminal trial – with both theoretical aspects and experience resulting from everyday practice taken into consideration. It consists of two parts: the first one presents opinions of the experts, which were expressed during the IX Wrocławskie Seminarium Karnoprocesowe and the second one includes comments that develop previously addressed issues further and analyse future reform directions.
A review of the most significant issues of modern criminal procedure and an in-depth reflection on the role of a proceeding party, judge’s activity and the axiological fundamentals of the system can be found in the articles included in the book. “Fundamenty nowego procesu karnego” is a valuable voice in the discussion about the necessary changes in the criminal procedure. An opinion that should be used in the legislative process.
