Among the publications of the University of Wrocław Press, you will now find a particularly engaging work, Testamenty szlacheckie z ksiąg grodzkich i ziemskich ziemi chełmskiej z XVII wieku, authored by mgr Julia Pomian, prof. Konrad Rzemienicki, and prof. Paweł Klint.
The book contains nearly 180 documents, offering a unique insight into the mindset of the 17th-century nobility. Testaments were not only legal instruments for managing property but also served as a farewell to the temporal world and a personal reckoning with life. A nobleman might, for example, include a declaration of faith or instructions concerning his funeral in his final will. Among these sources, one can also find the last will of a nobleman sentenced to death or affected by an epidemic.
Coming soon to bookshops is another new title: Z Hiszpanii do Polski. Doświadczenia migracyjne i komunikacja międzykulturowa by dr Aleksandra Matyja from the Institute of Journalism and Social Communication. In this work, the author explores how Spaniards living in Poland perceive the Polish people.
