
Professor Marek Mazurkiewicz passed away
We regret to announce that on 25 February 2026, Professor Marek Mazurkiewicz, born on 20 June 1931 in Vilnius, passed away.
The funeral ceremony will take place on Wednesday, 4 March, at 11.30 at the cemetery at ul. Bujwida in Wrocław. After the Mass, the deceased will be laid to rest in the family grave.
With great sadness, we bid farewell to the outstanding scientist, an associate professor at the University of Wrocław, a long-time Head of the Department of Financial Law and Finance, Vice-Rector of the University of Wrocław, a judge of the Constitutional Tribunal (2001-2010) and its vice-president (2010). From 20 February 1996 to 2 April 1997, he was the Chairman of the Constitutional Committee of the National Assembly and a member of the Sejm during its first, second and third legislative terms (1991-2001). He was awarded the Commander’s Cross of Polonia Restituta.
His knowledge, commitment and contribution to public life will remain forever in our memories. With his passing, we have lost an exceptional academic educator, eminent expert and populariser of financial law and an educational mentor to many generations of lawyers, administrators and scholars.
