Resolution of the senate of the University of Wrocław

Pursuant to § 22, item 25 of the Statute of the University of Wrocław adopted by the Resolution No. 102/2019 of the Senate of the University of Wrocław of 29 May 2019, in accordance with Article 28, paragraph 1, item 16 of the Act of 20 July 2018 on Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2021, item 478, as amended [Dz. U. z 2021, poz. 478, z późn. zm.]), it is hereby adopted as follows:

§ 1. The Senate of the University of Wrocław with reference to the statements published on 24 February 2022 by CRASP, RGSWiN, PAN, student and doctoral student organisations representing Polish academic community and the position of Rectors’ Council of Wrocław and Opole Universities (KRUWIO) on Russia’s unprovoked aggression against Ukraine, firmly and unanimously condemns the shameful attack on the brotherly Ukrainian nation.

To our friends – Ukrainian universities and scholars – we declare our continued support and assistance.

At the same time we turn to the academic community of the Russian Federation, in particular the universities cooperating with the University of Wrocław in St. Petersburg, Moscow, Tomsk, Irkutsk and Omsk, to firmly and unequivocally condemn the war waged against Ukraine. Scientific cooperation has a global and apolitical dimension but it cannot be used to support dictatorships that today threaten our neighbours and tomorrow may threaten us.

The Senate of the University of Wrocław commits the Rector to freeze, with immediate effect, the University’s cooperation with universities and other scientific institutions of the Russian Federation until further notice.

§ 2. The resolution shall enter into force on the date of its adoption.
