They lived in the Lemko Region, an area situated between Polish and Slovakian ethnic territory. The region included Beskid Sądecki, Beskid Niski, and fragments of Bieszczady Mountains. These individuals are part of the Slavic nations and have Byzantine origin in their faith. They have their own language, writing, culture, and customs. For a few hundred years, they were themselves, Rusyn–Lemkos.
