Some of them are only very rarely found as fossils. This is why the find of an almost complete skeleton of an extinct rhinoceros (Stephanorhinus) is unique on the scale of Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ugb-container ugb-container ugb-002ab8b ugb-container--v2 ugb-container--design-plain ugb-main-block\"><style>@media screen and (min-width:768px){.ugb-002ab8b.ugb-container{margin-bottom:0% !important;margin-right:6% !important;margin-left:6% !important}}@media screen and (min-width:768px){.ugb-002ab8b > .ugb-inner-block > .ugb-block-content > *{padding-top:0px !important;padding-bottom:0px !important;padding-right:0px !important;padding-left:0px !important}}<\/style><div class=\"ugb-inner-block\"><div class=\"ugb-block-content\"><div class=\"ugb-container__wrapper ugb-002ab8b-wrapper\"><div class=\"ugb-container__side\"><div class=\"ugb-container__content-wrapper ugb-002ab8b-content-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile is-vertically-aligned-top tekst-zdjecie-poziom tekst-zdjecie-poziom-l\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/uwr.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/polomski2-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"wykopaliska\" class=\"wp-image-9077 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The skeleton was found near Gorz\u00f3w Wielkopolski (NW Poland) during road construction. It was embedded in lake deposits which are remains of two ancient lakes, now no longer in existence. The deposits, containing remains of other animals and also of plants, make it possible to reconstruct the environment in which the rhinoceros lived, as well as the climate and vegetation at that time.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile tekst-zdjecie-poziom tekst-zdjecie-poziom-l\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/uwr.edu.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/polomski3-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"wykopaliska\" class=\"wp-image-9088 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This will require an array of specialist analyses of the remains of plants and animals (remains of vascular plants, algae, crustaceans, insects, molluscs), as well as chemical and physical analyses of the deposits. Besides reconstructing the past environment, the studies will make it possible to prepare a 3D reconstruction of the rhinoceros skeleton, as well as a reconstruction of the animal\u2019s external appearance and its natural habitat which in turn will provide the basis for a museum exhibition to make the results available to the general public to aid popularisation of science.<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"bs-pageList-container\">\n\n    \n    <\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>STEFANIA Life and death of rhino (Stephanorhinus sp.) from Western Poland: a multiproxy paleoenvironmental approach.
