Implementation PhDs<\/h1>\n\n\n

The Implementation PhD is a programme of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education which, through the training of doctoral students in cooperation with the entrepreneurs or other entities that employ them, aims to support the development of cooperation between the entities of the higher education system and science together with the socio-economic environment. The programme enables a doctoral student to develop his or her research career without having to give up a career outside the university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participation in the programme provides an opportunity:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • for doctoral students to conduct research with a view to developing their chosen enterprise,<\/li>
  • for companies and businesses that can recruit a capable researcher to improve their operations,<\/li>
  • for the university, which strengthens research and development cooperation and provides opportunities to implement the innovations developed.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    The programme consists of modules:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. “Implementation PhD I” – under which the preparation of doctoral theses by doctoral students engaged in research activities other than those specified in points 2 and 3 is supported;<\/li>
    2. “Implementation PhD II – Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Technologies” – which supports the preparation of doctoral dissertations by doctoral students pursuing research activities in the use of artificial intelligence and quantum technologies in technological or social processes, including those related to cyber security;<\/li>
    3. “Implementation PhD III – Metrology” – which supports the preparation of doctoral theses by doctoral students pursuing research activities in the use of metrology in technological and social processes, including those related to the development of digital technologies and state-of-the-art technologies in the areas of health, environment, energy and advanced measurement techniques.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      DUTIES OF THE DOCTORAL STUDENT<\/u><\/strong><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • to follow the programme of study at the Doctoral School and to perform other duties of a doctoral student arising from the law and the Regulations;<\/li>
      • to submit progress reports to the Supervisor and the Associate Supervisor at a frequency agreed with them, not exceeding once a month, together with a brief outline of plans for the next reporting period;<\/li>
      • the doctoral dissertation must at least include the so-called implementability of the solution, which should be described in detail (what it will consist of, what benefits it brings to the cooperating entity, etc.) in the annual\/final report.<\/li>
      • A patent can be considered an implementation.<\/li>
      • Implementation is not subject to further monitoring. Implementation at the cooperating entity should be activities aimed at applying the effects, results of the doctoral student’s scientific activity in practice.<\/li>
      • Participation in the programme culminates in the successful submission of a dissertation, and should result in the implementation of the results of the doctoral students’ research activities in the cooperating entities.<\/li>
      • In the annual report, the doctoral student should provide a description of the results of the research and the extent to which the tasks planned in the schedule have been completed.<\/li>
      • The condition for participation in the Programme is that the doctoral student is employed full-time in a cooperating entity. If a doctoral student is dismissed or gives notice himself or herself, or if the cooperating entity ceases to function, the doctoral student automatically ceases to be a member of the Programme.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        THE PROCESS OF OBTAINING AN IMPLEMENTATION PhD <\/u><\/strong><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        The call for applications for the competition consists of two stages:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        STAGE I<\/u><\/strong><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        The first stage is to prepare the information on the project, the cooperating entity\/entities and the candidates for promoter and assistant supervisor (Part I of the application) – submitted to MEiN from 9 May to 1 June each year;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        STAGE I INCLUDES:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. Development of a research project plan<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          The first step to the Implementation PhD is the development of a research plan in which the candidate or company proposes a research topic and indicates the objectives to be achieved. At this stage, the motives for choosing the research problem and its relevance in the financial area are described. The plan should include the questions and hypotheses that the doctoral student will work on. The research plan should conclude with proposals for solving the reported research problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          • Obtaining the consent of the cooperating entity<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

            The candidate should then obtain permission from the employer to pursue an implementation doctorate in the context of employment with the company and to commence training at the Doctoral School. The agreement of a support mentor appointed on behalf of the Company to monitor progress in the implementation of the project is also required. The candidate should also conduct substantive interviews with potential supervisors, obtaining agreement from at least one of them to act as a supervisor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Who can become an associate supervisor?<\/strong> – An associate supervisor can be a person who has:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            • a doctoral degree or a doctorate in arts OR<\/strong><\/li>
            • at least five years’ experience in carrying out scientific activities OR<\/strong><\/li>
            • significant achievements in the development and implementation in the economic or social sphere of an original design, construction, technological or artistic solution, with a supra-regional scope and a lasting and universal character.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
              • Submission of the application<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                The candidate asks the university to complete an application form. The applicant in the competition is the relevant department of the University of Wroc\u0142aw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                • Recruitment to the Doctoral School<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                  Once the above approvals have been obtained, the candidate should register in the recruitment system and pay the recruitment fee. At this stage, you should attach documents proving that you have obtained an MA, M.Sc. or equivalent degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  • Admission to the Doctoral School<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                    The commencement of training at the Doctoral School takes place upon taking the oath of office. From this point onwards, the doctoral student begins to implement the research plan and to collaborate with the supervisor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                    STAGE I<\/u><\/strong><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                    The second stage involves the preparation of information on the doctoral student and on the costs of implementing the project, which will be financed from the funds granted under the programme, as well as the schedule of work on the project (part II of the application) – submitted to the Ministry of the Economy by 20 September of the year in which the call for proposals is conducted. Part II of the application shall only be submitted by applicants pre-qualified by the MEiN to participate in the programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                    If funding is obtained, a tripartite agreement will need to be signed. The parties to the tripartite agreement will be the applicant (UWr), the enterprise – the entity interested in implementing the results of the scientific activity – and the doctoral student.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
