The campaign is realised at the Department of Earth Sciences and Environmental Management at the University of Wroc\u0142aw and implemented as part of the university\u2019s PM Cost project (<a href=\"https:\/\/pmcost.meteo.uni.wroc.pl\/\">https:\/\/pmcost.meteo.uni.wroc.pl\/<\/a>) and the ACTRIS PL project (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.meteo.uni.wroc.pl\/actris-pl\/\">https:\/\/www.meteo.uni.wroc.pl\/actris-pl\/<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The aim of the campaign is to gather data regarding the air quality in a selected area of Wroc\u0142aw (S\u0119polno district) using an array of the latest measurement techniques, as well as the exchange of information regarding the optimal methodology of the data\u2019s usage.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ugb-container ugb-container bs-news-page-under ugb-f8694ce ugb-container--v2 ugb-container--design-plain ugb-main-block\"><div class=\"ugb-inner-block\"><div class=\"ugb-block-content\"><div class=\"ugb-container__wrapper ugb-f8694ce-wrapper\"><div class=\"ugb-container__side\"><div class=\"ugb-container__content-wrapper ugb-f8694ce-content-wrapper\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Further on, the gathered data will be used to analyse the determinants of air quality during the campaign and for methodological work and analyses regarding the modelling of air quality on a local scale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following scientific teams take part in the campaign:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Department of Earth Sciences and Environmental Management and the Department of Experimental Petrology at the University of Wroc\u0142aw: meteorological background measurements, stationary measurements of PM concentrations, chemical composition analyses of particulate pollutants, mobile measurements of PM concentrations, air quality modelling,<\/li><li>UK Centre for Ecology &amp; Hydrology: aerosol chemical composition, identification of air pollution sources,<\/li><li>Institute of Geophysics at the Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw: remote sensing measurements of the vertical structure of the atmosphere (lidar measurements),<\/li><li>University Laboratories for Atmosphere Control at the University of Silesia in Katowice: in situ measurements of the vertical structure of the atmosphere (balloon measurements),<\/li><li>Institute of Environmental Protection at the National Research Institute: stationary and mobile measurements of PM concentrations,<\/li><li>Institute of Geophysics at the Polish Academy of Sciences: stationary measurements of PM concentrations.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Second-year and third-year students of Geography studies at the Institute of Geography and Regional Development at the University of Wroc\u0142aw also take part in the campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The campaign was inaugurated with a lecture by dr Chiara di Marco of the CEH, entitled &#8216;Particular matter chemical speciation: measurement techniques and model evaluation&#8217;, during which the first results of measurements made as part of this campaign were mentioned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since the CEH team has been visiting the Department of Earth Sciences and Environmental Management at the University of Wroc\u0142aw for a week now, they have managed to obtain the first information about the composition of the air in Wroc\u0142aw&#8217;s Biskupin and S\u0119polno districts.
