The Miniature grant will go to <strong>dr Piotr Sobota<\/strong>, assistant professor at the Department of Nuclear Physics and Dielectrics of the Institute of Experimental Physics of the UWr Faculty of Physics and Astronomy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 In my work, I focus on research into new, promising superconducting materials that may find practical applications in industry, science and medicine \u2013 explains our scientist. \u2013 I am currently conducting research on a new type of titanium-rich superconducting alloys with high entropy, distinguished by their mechanical properties and relatively high superconducting parameters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the award-winning project, the scientist will conduct a series of syntheses and measurements of the physical and structural properties of new, modified titanium-rich high-entropy alloys. \u2018The main goal of the modification is to increase the critical current density, i.e. the maximum current that can flow through a superconductor without energy loss \u2013 explains dr Piotr Sobota. \u2013 A sufficiently high critical current density is one of the key parameters that a superconducting material must meet in order to be used in practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The implementation of the project will enable the identification of the optimal path for modifying these alloys, e.g. through substitution with elements, thermal and mechanical treatment, and changes in stoichiometry. \u2013 This will form the basis for a future, more extensive project with great application potential \u2013 adds the scientist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Congratulations and good luck!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ncn.gov.pl\/konkursy\/wyniki\/miniatura9\">Results of the MINIATURA 9 competition<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Complied by Katarzyna G\u00f3rowicz-Ma\u0107kiewicz<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Added by: E.K.<br>Date of publication: 1.09.2025<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The project &#8220;W kierunku stosowalnych nadprzewodz\u0105cych stop\u00f3w o wysokiej entropii o wysokich g\u0119sto\u015bciach pr\u0105du krytycznego&#8221; (eng. \u2018Towards applicable high-entropy superconducting alloys with high critical current densities\u2019) has received support from the National Science Centre.
