Magnetism in graphene materials – lecture by dr hab. Piotr Błoński

We would like to invite you to an open lecture by visiting professor dr hab. Piotr Błoński from the Regional Centre for Advanced Technologies and Materials at Palacký University in Olomouc, entitled „Magnetism in graphene materials: what can we learn from first-principles calculations?”

The lecture will take place on Friday, 14 April 2023 at 12:15 in room 60, J. Rzewuski, Institute of Experimental Physics UWr, pl. M. Borna 9.

The lecture takes place within the framework of the visiting professor’s stay at our university – the winner of the competition for funding visiting professors – long visits within the framework of the „Initiative of Excellence – Research University” (IDUB) programme.

The event is organised by the Department of Surface Physics and Nanomaterials of the Institute of Experimental Physics of the University of Wrocław.

Piotr Błoński conducts his research at the Regional Centre for Advanced Technologies and Materials of Palacký University in Olomouc, where he received his postdoctoral degree in physical chemistry in 2019. The results of his research have led, among other things, to the development of high-temperature graphene-based magnets free of metal atom impurities, or nitrogen-doped graphene with diamond-like bonds and unprecedented energy density for supercapacitor applications. He is also researching the production of green hydrogen by photoreforming alcohols from biomass using titanium dioxide as a photocatalyst. His scientific output includes 56 publications, including in Chemical Society Reviews, Energy & Environmental Science, Advanced Materials, which have been cited 1963 times, resulting in a Hirsch index of 22.
