‘Dimensions of Loneliness’ Conference

The Young Scholars and Artists Academy, Wrocław Academic Hub, and the Institute of Philosophy UWr would like to invite you to participate in the ‘Dimensions of Loneliness’ Conference, which will take place on October 24, at the hall of E-sport Business Incubator (at the building complex of the GEM Hotel), ul. Mianowskiego 2b.

The conference falls within the series of events organised in Wrocław as part of the Wrocław Year of Good Relations – Against Loneliness, which was created by the president of Wrocław – Jacek Sutryk.

The opening lecture, dedicated to ‘Loneliness and Happiness in the Language’ will be given by professor Jan Miodek. Further part of the event will be divided into two parts: while the first one will be dedicated to the practical challenges that come with loneliness, the second will explore the theoretical approaches to loneliness. The practical part will include presentations on the subject of biochemical aspects of loneliness and stress, as well as loneliness within the modern job market (including female loneliness in the academic world), and the psychological aspects of loneliness, including the experiences of depression and mobbing. During the theoretical part, we can expect lectures dedicated to specific philosophical approaches to loneliness, loneliness in art and aesthetics, as well as relations between the individual and society.
