University of Wrocław is one of the most popular universities in Poland
On October 27, 2022, the Ministry of Education and Science released a report on recruitment results for the 2022/2023 academic year at higher education institutions supervised by the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Poland. The University of Wrocław is the most popular research university among the higher education institutions chosen by applicants for the 2022/23 academic year on a per-seat basis.
On average, there was more than five applicants for one place at the University of Wrocław, which makes it the most popular university in Wrocław and Lower Silesia, ahead of the University of Economics. The first five places ahead of the UWr are occupied by technical universities: Gdańsk University of Technology, Warsaw University of Technology, Poznan University of Technology, Lodz University of Technology and AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow.
Such a high place in the ranking shows that – despite the greater popularity of technical universities – a research university can also attract candidates with its diversified study offer, tailored to the interests of high school graduates and to the needs of the labor market.
This year, among the ten most popular fields of study at the UWr in the 2022/2023 recruitment, in case of which more than ten candidates applied for one place, there were:

The University of Wrocław attracts the best candidates, especially through the Young Researcher 2020-2025 Scholarship – a grants and scholarships programme for students and doctoral students of the University of Wrocław. Its aim is to support the scientific and research development of students and doctoral students. As part of the Young Researcher programme, we have prepared 100 special scholarships for winners of subject olympiads and high school graduates with the highest enrolment scores.
The minute you cross the threshold of our University, you’ll find attractive financial support programmes awaiting. As much as 1 million PLN will be awarded to first-year male and female students under the Young Researcher 2020-2025 – Student Scholarship programme. – says the Vice-Rector for research, prof.
