Dr Jacek Zienkiewicz passed away

We are deeply grieved to announce the unexpected death of dr Jacek Zienkiewicz in Wrocław on 9 January 2023.

Born on 1 January 1967 in Wrocław, professor of the University of Wrocław, one of the most eminent Polish mathematicians of his generation. A man of broad horizons. He made fundamental discoveries in many fields of mathematics. He was a two-time winner of the Mathematics Olympiad, representative of Poland at the International Mathematics Olympiad, winner of the Stanisław Saks Scholarship, the Kazimierz Kuratowski Award and the START Scholarship of the Foundation for Polish Science. He conducted research in many scientific centres around the world. Author of significant publications in mathematical analysis, probability theory and differential equations.

Funeral ceremonies will commence on 16 January 2023 at 13:00 at St. Jacek’s parish cemetery, Wrocław-Swojczyce at ul. Chałupnicza.
