Earth Hour at the UWr
On Saturday, 25 March at 20:30, WFF’s Earth Hour will begin – in a symbolic gesture of concern for the future of the planet, the lights in homes, businesses and institutions will be switched off. At the University of Wrocław, as many as 15 buildings will take part in the action!
This year’s edition of WWF’s Earth Hour is dedicated to the fight against biodiversity loss, i.e. species extinction. According to the latest WWF Living Planet Report, species populations have declined by 69% over the last 50 years. Species are going extinct due to, among other things, the continued expansion of humans into their territories. It is crucial to the protection of biodiversity that areas of natural value are looked after so that they provide a safe home for the animals that inhabit them.
