Research trip for students of social project management
Second-year students of social project management (part-time first-cycle studies) at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Wrocław will have the opportunity to conduct research as part of the subject ‘Managing regional and local development’ in the Land of Extinct Volcanoes. The one-day research trip will take place on 15 April this year. The group of students will be mentored by dr Andrzej Ferens and dr Katarzyna Kobielska, esteemed lecturers from the Department of Political and Social Activity Research at the Institute of Political Science. The research trip will be intensive and will include sites where Social Project Management students will have the opportunity to experience the changes brought about through the implementation of social projects in real life.
One point on the research trip itinerary will be the ‘Gross-Rosen’ Museum in Rogoźnica, where participants will see the results of local social projects, including the exhibition created as part of the ‘EURO2012’ project. The plan also includes a visit to the viewing tower in Mściwojów created as part of the project ‘Construction of a nature trail in the Wierzbiak River valley with a viewing point for the Sudeten Foreland’. It is on this tower that they will meet a representative of the municipality, who will talk about local and regional development. The director of the educational homestead in Dobkowo will also speak about the implementation of projects on a local and central level. In Złotoryja, they will learn about the activities of the “Nasze Rio” Association – its history and the social projects it carries out, including methods of social animation that contribute to building local partnerships.
The research trip is designed to create additional space for part-time students to deepen their knowledge and skills in the implementation of social projects in local conditions. Social Project Management is a field of study through which students have the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for activities at various levels of social life, diagnosing problems and researching social attitudes.
