University of Wrocław’s scholars as Ambassadors at the Lower Silesian Science Festival!
At the Lower Silesian Science Festival the staff and the graduates of the University of Wrocław will play the role of Ambassadors – distinguished figures, who combine the functions of popularising science and sharing their knowledge.
This year, as many as three members of staff from the University of Wrocław were awarded this honour. They are: prof. dr hab. Jan Miodek, dr Maciej Modzel (along with our graduate, Marta Gieruń) and dr Aleksandra Ziober! The Ambassadors also include Marek Krajewski, a graduate from our university.
Prof. dr hab. Jan Miodek – born in 1946, a retired professor at the University of Wrocław, Director of the Institute of Polish Studies in 1989-2016, head of the Department of the History of Polish Language in 2002-2016, member of the Council for the Polish Language, honorary doctor of the Vilnius Pedagogical University, Opole University and the University of Rzeszów, known for his television programmes “Ojczyzna polszczyzna” (1987-2007), “Prof. Miodek odpowiada” (1995-2006) and “Słownik polsko@polski” (from 2009).

dr Maciej Modzel – Doctor of Chemistry, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Wrocław. His day-to-day work revolves around protein chemistry and teaching organic chemistry to students. He is currently working on the application of mass spectrometry to analyse intermolecular interactions in proteins. However, what he enjoys most is teaching and being able to share his knowledge. He has been involved with the Lower Silesian Science Festival for many years.
