Christopher Brennan has been a proven leader and problem solver for nearly a quarter of a century, with experience in advocacy, community organizing, intergovernmental relations, communication strategy, volunteer training, and many other assignments and responsibilities. Chris has worked in political campaigns, state and federal government, and the private sector.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, Brennan began his professional career as campaign deputy manager for Congressman Michael Ferguson in New Jersey during the 1998 campaign cycle. In 1999, as a field representative for the New Jersey Republican State Committee, where he helped maintain Republican control of the state assembly, Chris worked as field director for Republican National Committee’s Victory 2000 program, helping elect the Republican seat in federal and local races.
After earning master’s degrees in American history in The Citadel (The Military College of South Carolina) and The College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina, Brennan served as political director for Southeastern Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley in President Bush’s 2004 re-election campaign. In this position, he supervised the ten most populous counties in Pennsylvania and helped build a base of over 10,000 volunteers. Under Brennan’s leadership, a team of volunteers made contact with more than two million voters on election day alone.
After the election, Brennan served as the director of external affairs for Verizon in central Pennsylvania. From serving as Verizon’s liaison with local and county governments to representing the Verizon Foundation in its charitable endeavors, Brennan has served as the face of Verizon in the local community.
From 2013 to 2015, Brennan joined the administration of Pennsylvania Governor, Tom Corbett, as regional director for central Pennsylvania and then became director of communications for Lieutenant Governor, Jim Cawley.
Most recently, Brennan was director of projects at The Bravo Group, one of the largest public relations and law firms in the United States. He led many projects there, including a USAID-funded democracy-building project in North Macedonia.
After serving as political director of Defending Democracy Together in Pennsylvania during the 2020 election campaign, Brennan accepted a position at International Republican Institute as program director for North Macedonia. He currently lives in Skopje, North Macedonia with his wife and family.
