FLAE UWr again on the podium in the “Rzeczpospolita” ranking

The Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics of the University of Wrocław was ranked third in the 12th edition of the Rzeczpospolita ranking of law faculties in the category of public universities. FLAE of UWr has maintained its place at the top for several years now. The leaders of the ranking did not change this year, with Jagiellonian University once again in first place and the University of Warsaw in second.

The methodology of the ranking takes into account three categories: scientific potential, quality of education and cooperation with abroad. Such a good result for the University of Wrocław testifies to both the high quality of research work and teaching in the field of law.

In the scientific potential category, the results of the 2017-2021 evaluation were taken into account this year. In addition to the points for the scientific category, counts included the number of faculty members with degrees in the disciplines ‘law’ and ‘legal sciences’, the number of doctoral and postdoctoral degrees awarded in 2022 in the disciplines ‘law’ and ‘legal sciences’, doctoral and postdoctoral qualifications and the number of doctoral students and participants in the doctoral school.

Indicators on the quality of education included the pass rate for application, the number of applicants per full-time place, the relative unemployment rate of graduates after graduation and the relative earnings rate of graduates after graduation.

Cooperation with foreign countries was assessed taking into account the percentage of foreign students in relation to total students and studies conducted in English.

Commentary by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics of the University of Wrocław, dr Jacek Przygodzki:

“I believe that the quality of teaching at the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics at UWr is primarily determined by the research and teaching staff. In addition, I would like to emphasise that the discipline of legal sciences represented by our Faculty has been granted a high scientific category A and the University of Wrocław has the status of a Research University.

Many of our employees are active lawyers working in the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Tribunal, the Supreme Administrative Court, the Provincial Administrative Court, common courts, the Local Government Appeal Court, public administration bodies. They are taken advocates, legal advisers, notaries, auditors. This synergy translates very well into combining theory and practice in the teaching process at the faculty.

In addition, the practical experience of the staff lends itself well to the construction of curricula, as well as the implementation of educational activities involving our students, such as the operation of the University Legal Clinic, the conduct of court trial simulations, as well as the newly opened VR room, where classes are conducted using Virtual Reality technology.”
