University of Wrocław in QS World University Rankings 2024

Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a leader in providing analytical services to the international higher education sector, yesterday released the results of its latest QS World University Rankings 2024. The ranking is one of the four most important global university rankings. The University of Wrocław was ranked among the 901-950 best universities in the world. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology was ranked first in the list, followed by the University of Cambridge in second and the University of Oxford in third.

Every year more and more universities are evaluated in the ranking, so the competition is increasing. In this edition, QS took as many as 2,963 institutions of higher education under its microscope, of which 1,500 were included in the final list. This is 85 more universities than a year ago. The ranking evaluated 22 Polish universities. Among Polish classical universities, UWr is ranked fourth, ex aequo with Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Ahead of us were, in turn: Warsaw University (ranked 262nd), Jagiellonian University (ranked 304th) and A. Mickiewicz University in Poznan (ranked 731-740).

In the QS World University Rankings, the most important indicator, with a weighting as high as 30%, is the university’s Academic Reputation. Another important indicator, with a weight of 20%, is the normalized number of citations of scientific publications per employee. The ranking also counts the university’s reputation among employers (Employer Reputation), with a weight of 15%, and the Faculty Student Ratio, with a weight of 10%. The other indicators, each with a weighting of 5%, are internationalization of academic staff (International Faculty), percentage of international students (International Students), international research collaboration (International Research Network) sustainability (Sustainability) and employability of graduates (Employment Outcomes).

Our strongest categories are Faculty Student Ratio (ranked 539 in the world) and Employer Reputation (ranked 569). This proves that we are constantly working to improve the quality of our students’ education, and they are getting better ratings from employers from Poland and abroad. In the Academic Reputation category, we are ranked 589.
