Wanted! Individuals interested in pursuing a Ph.D. at the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN)!

PAN is announcing a competition for the realization of a Ph.D. within the framework of the SONATA BIS project, under the supervision of dr hab. Łukasz Okruszka, prof. IP PAN.

PAN is seeking two individuals for the position of doctoral student in the project titled “Lonely and Selfish? Decision-Making in the Social Sphere and Loneliness – Research Using Multimodal Neuroimaging and Experience Sampling.” The project is funded by the National Science Centre (registration number 2022/46/E/HS6/00138). It will be carried out at the Laboratory of Social Neuroscience at the Institute of Psychology, PAN, under the supervision of dr hab. Łukasz Okruszka, prof. IP PAN.

The responsibilities of the doctoral students will include:

  • Preparing research procedures
  • Conducting experiments with study participants
  • Assisting in the recruitment of study participants and project promotion
  • Analyzing behavioral data
  • Analyzing physiological data (primarily EEG)
  • Presenting results at conferences
  • Preparing publications
  • Doctoral students are expected to work full-time (40 hours per week).

Requirements:

  • Being a fifth-year student or a graduate of second-cycle studies in psychology, cognitive science, neuroinformatics, physics, mathematics, biology, biotechnology, or related fields (the degree should be obtained no later than the end of 2023).
  • High motivation to participate in all stages of the research
  • Fluent command of spoken and written English
  • Interest in research topics related to social neuroscience and/or decision-making
  • Experience in conducting research and statistical analysis of empirical data in the field of psychology or social sciences
  • Additional advantages include experience in conducting EEG research and/or scripting skills using MATLAB, R, or Python.
