Dr Magdalena Ślawska is the winner of MINIATURA 7

Dr Magdalena Ślawska is an assistant professor at the Institute of Slavic Studies and a member of the Centre for Research on Children’s and Young Adult Literature at the University of Wrocław. Her research interests focus on Croatian and Serbian children’s literature and the reception of Polish works for the youngest in Croatia and Serbia.

Dr Magdalena Ślawska’s research project entitled ‘Croatian and Serbian Literature for Children and Young People in Poland in the Years 1945-1989’ („Chorwacka i serbska literatura dla dzieci i młodzieży w Polsce w latach 1945-1989”) has just received funding in the Miniatura 7 competition of the National Science Centre. This is the first basic research focused on the presence and reception in Poland of children’s texts translated from Serbo-Croatian.

The planned activities will be carried out in the form of library searches at the National Library and Children’s Book Museum in Warsaw, the National and University Library in Zagreb (Nacionalna i sveučilišna knjižnica u Zagrebu) and the National Library of Serbia in Belgrade (Narodna Biblioteka Srbije). There will also be consultations with translators and researchers from Croatia and Serbia working in the field of literature for children and young people.

In July, 55 researchers from all over Poland joined the ranks of the winners of the Miniatura 7 competition. The researchers will receive a total of more than PLN 2 million for the implementation of individual scientific activities, such as preliminary and pilot studies, scientific internships and research and consultancy trips. Congratulations and we wish you fruitful research!

The project “Integrated Program for the Development of the University of Wrocław 2018-2022” co-financed by the European Union from the European Social Fund
