“Wrocław on an old postcard” – meeting with the authors
We would like to invite to an author’s meeting with Mr Tomasz Sielicki and Mr Mariusz Kotkowski, well-known historians, popularisers of knowledge about old Wrocław, as well as collectors of postcards and outstanding specialists in the field of historical transport in Wrocław. The gentlemen also belong to the circle of friendly readers of the University Library in Wrocław.
The meeting will be chaired by Mr Witold Koterla, our library antiquary, who will talk about the collection of postcards held at the BUWr Graphic Collections Department, and how to build such a collection. Original postcards related to old Wrocław will be on display during the meeting.
We will learn from our illustrious authors when the first woman appeared behind the tram signalman or what goods were transported in tram wagons. Maybe someone will recognise their house, school or a place they pass every day by looking at the prepared presentation of old Wrocław postcards.
Each postcard is a separate story with a comprehensive description containing curiosities, anecdotes and quotations from the pre-war daily press. We will also find out whether the baroque Neptune had the opportunity to ride a tram
Event venue: Cultural Lounge of the University Library in Wrocław, 24.10.2023 (Tuesday), 5 p.m. Free entrance.
We warmly invite you!
