
Studium Generale: lecture by prof. dr hab. Rafał Płoski
On 24 October, the Studium Generale will hold another lecture. This time, students will be able to broaden their knowledge in the field of medicine, which will be represented by our guest speaker, prof. dr hab. Rafał Płoski.

The lecture entitled Diagnostyka medyczna w oparciu o badania genetyczne (Medical diagnosis based on genetic testing) will be given by prof. dr hab. Rafał Płoski.

Prof. dr hab. Rafał Płoski is a graduate of the Medical Academy in Warsaw, where he received his medical degree (1990); he received his Ph.D. in Medicine from the University of Oslo (1995). Prof. Płoski’s interests lie in the field of human genetic diversity in the context of medical and anthropological issues, as well as issues related to personal identification for forensic purposes. Prof. Płoski’s scientific output includes more than 100 papers published in international journals, which have been cited a total of about 2200 times. Currently, prof. Płoski heads the team of the Department of Medical Genetics at WUM, and his activities focus on the application of state-of-the-art high-throughput DNA sequencing techniques in medical diagnosis. An important part of the ongoing projects concerns the use of these methods to detect mutations leading to cancer.
