Supervision_Hack 2023

Materials of the organiser:

On behalf of the Office of the Financial Supervision Authority, we would like to invite all students to the third edition of the #Supervision_Hack hackathon, which will take place from 17 to 19 November 2023 at “The Tides” building, ul. Wioślarska 8, Warsaw. The hackathon is an educational programming marathon that brings together the programming community. The event offers not only 24 hours of programming but also practical workshops, quizzes on industry knowledge, and the opportunity to meet trend-setting specialists in the IT market. Detailed information can be found on the supervisionhack website.

During the hackathon, participants will compete for prizes worth a total of PLN 150,000 by searching for the best solutions in two challenges:

  • #01 DEPO _Predator – a tool that signals liquidity problems in banks;
  • #02 SF _ CRacker – a tool that verifies the correctness of solvency and financial condition reports of insurance companies.

More importantly, the winning projects will be implemented in administrative structures, so participants of the hackathon will have a real impact on the shape of the financial market in Poland! Participation in the event is free and open to everyone: students, programmers, UX specialists, project managers, engineers, database experts, analysts, and even sociologists. Projects competing in the contest can be submitted individually or in teams of up to six people. Those participants who do not have a team will be able to create a team on the Discord channel. Everyone taking part in the hackathon can count on the support of specialists, available throughout the event. Mentors will not only help from the technical side, but will also offer advice on how to implement ideas in individual challenges.

The first edition of the #Supervision_Hack hackathon took place from 21 to 23 October 2022. More than 200 people took part in the event, with 28 projects submitted for competitive evaluation. Participants could choose between two challenges: “#KarateKIID” (analysis of key investor information using NLP) and “Catch Them All” (a detection mechanism for phishing sites).

The second edition took place from 19 to 21 May 2023. More than 250 people attended the event with 15 projects submitted for competitive evaluation. Participants had two challenges to choose from: “##FakeJobHunter” (fighting fraud in the labour market) and “#AdsDetect” (a mechanism for detecting false advertising). The resulting solutions and tools were implemented and used in ongoing supervisory activities. The #Supervision _ Hack is organised in cooperation with the organiser of HackYeah! hackathons, one of Europe’s largest stationary events of its kind, which guarantees the highest level of professionalism in running the event.
