StRuNy Award for SKN Geologists!
The University of Wrocław’s Student Scientific Association of Geologists received an award in the Project of the Year category in the StRuNa national competition of scientific circles.
The project entitled ‘Poszukiwanie, separacja oraz analiza składu chemicznego i fazowego miejskich mikrometeorytów’ (‘Exploration, separation and analysis of the chemical and phase composition of urban micrometeorites) was submitted to the competition by the members of the circle as early as October, but, as they modestly admitted, they did not expect to win due to the high level of competition.
There were a total of 217 entries from all over Poland, but only 26 projects made it to the finals.
On November 18th, the Student Scientific Association of Geologists presented their idea in the auditorium of the Academy of Art and Design in Warsaw during the final of the StRuNa competition. All the projects were presented in front of a jury, which were to decide who would win awards and, above all, the main prizes.
The University of Wrocław project was brilliantly presented by Michał Maciak, a third-year geological engineering student. It was an extremely difficult task, as the time limit for the presentation was 500 seconds. Presenting all the important and interesting elements of micrometeorite-related activities in such a short time was quite a challenge.
As members of the circle report, the competing projects were amazing – very imaginative and requiring a lot of knowledge and a huge amount of time. Winning brought a lot of joy to the geologists. They also emphasized that they were proud of their colleague who presented the project and managed to demonstrate the results of their months-long work in such a way as to interest the competition jury.
They also pointed out that although the StRuNy award is a huge success for them, it is not the maximum of their capabilities. The Student Scientific Association of Geologists is operating dynamically, further developing the award-winning project.
According to the young geologists, new concepts for projects and trips, that make them happy and at the same time astonish the world, are coming up constantly.

Congratulations on winning and wishing you continued academic success!
