Our researchers in the Polish Accreditation Committee

Four UWr researchers have been appointed to the Polish Accreditation Committee for the years 2024-2027. Its VII term will begin on the 1st of January 2024, and will last four years.

The membership of UWr researchers in the Polish Accreditation Committee signifies an actual chance to impact the shape of modern academic education. We present our researchers of the Polish Accreditation Committee:

Dr hab. Anna Małgorzewicz, prof. UWr (Vice-Dean for education quality and part-time studies of the Faculty of Letters, Head of the Department of Translation Studies and Glottodidactics, Head of the Postgraduate Studies for German Translators, Vice-President of the Polish Germanists Association (Stowarzyszenie Germanistów Polskich), Vice-President of the Polish Society of Applied Linguistics, and Vice-President of the International Academy for Translation and Interpreting).

For prof. Anna Małgorzewicz problems in the fields of translation and glottodidactics have been the subject of attention since the start of her scientific career. She presented the results of empirical research on developing skills of written and oral translators in her doctoral and postdoctoral theses. — Obtained research results became a foundation for original teaching programmes for German translators in the form of postgraduate studies and translation studies specialization conducted at the Faculty of Letters — the researcher says. — I used my experience to organize and formulate the concept of international summer translation studies schools in collaboration with the University of Innsbruck, and translation workshops for students in collaboration with the European University Viadrina Frankfurt, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, and the Hochschule Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Science.

Professor’s other fields of interest include metascientific aspects of translation research, specialized translation, cultural elements in the translation of literary texts, and glottodidactics.

Academic glottodidactics is also her field of study as part of her activity at the Institute of German Studies, and the Faculty of Letters at the University of Wrocław. In the past, she served as the President of the Educational Quality Assessment Team of the Faculty of Letters, and the Deputy Director for Didactics at the Institute of German Studies. She created models of monitoring the quality of education. Gained knowledge and experience was used in the accreditation committees of degree courses at German universities, where she was both a member and a president.

I believe that my involvement in the Polish Accreditation Committee will allow me to share my knowledge of scientific concepts, which can serve as the foundation for professional academic education based on holistic competency models — she says. — I can see the opportunity to reprofile classical (neo)philological studies, and adapt them to the needs of modern society. The most recent research shows that the skills of the humanities graduates are highly valued by employers in various sectors of economy, politics, and culture. I hope that the experience gained at the Faculty of Letters, which contained a rich educational offer, will contribute to my work in the Polish Accreditation Committee.

Dr hab. Robert Kucharczyk, prof. UWr (Vice-Dean for teaching affairs at the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy, works at the Department of Surface Physics and Nanomaterials).

He has been associated with academic teaching for years. — I serve as the Vice-Dean for teaching affairs. Also, I take part in the works of the University’s Education Quality Committee, departmental pro-quality teams, and the University Teaching Committee (currently as its Vice-President) — the professor says.

He has been a subject matter expert on the physical science field of the Polish Accreditation Committee (PKA) for the past two terms. — To me, membership in the PKA is an opportunity to promote effective academic teaching models, and to shape the quality policy in this field — prof. Robert Kucharczyk says.
