Joint student events at Wrocław universities

A letter of intent to this effect was signed on Tuesday at Tarczynski Arena Wrocław. The arena will be the venue for the Students Days concerts on 22 and 23 May.

A student parade is also planned from Grunwaldzki Square to Market Square, where the students are to be handed the symbolic keys to the city by the Mayor of Wrocław.

Rectors, vice-rectors for student affairs at Wrocław’s universities, including UWr Rector prof. Robert Olkiewicz and prof. Maciej Cesarz, UWr Vice-Rector for student affairs, as well as the presidents of the student self-governments of nine universities in Wrocław, including Arkadiusz Smugowski, President of the UWr Student Self-Government Board, signed a letter of intent to jointly organise a student festival in Wrocław.

On 22 and 23 May at Tarczyński Arena Wrocław, students will participate in concerts specially prepared for them during the Juwenalia 2024 #WrocławRazem.

The event will be organised jointly by Wrocław University of Science and Technology, the University of Wrocław, Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences, Wrocław University of Economics, the Piastów Śląskich Medical University in Wrocław, the Karol Lipiński Academy of Physical Education in Wrocław, the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław and the Pontifical Faculty of Theology in Wrocław. Coventry University Wrocław has also become a partner of the event.

The event is held under the patronage of the Rectors’ College of Wrocław and Opole Universities (KRUWiO). As President prof. Krystian Kiełb, Rector of the Academy of Music in Wrocław said: “- In a way, this is a return to academic traditions from long time ago, but this year’s event will certainly be different. It will be organised in a way that the students have imagined for themselves. This is a student celebration, so we, the rectors, act as supporters of the students’ ideas. And we intend to fulfil this role well.”

During a conference at the stadium, representatives of the student self-government announced the first star who will be performing at the juwenalia. This will be Young Leosia, a rapper, songwriter, sound engineer and DJ who has made a name for herself in 2021 with songs such as “Szkladki” and “Jungle Girl”.

UWr students are also preparing other surprises in connection with the student May holiday. More details will be available soon.

The project “Integrated Program for the Development of the University of Wrocław 2018-2022” co-financed by the European Union from the European Social Fund
