President of the Student Self-Government of the University of Wrocław to lead the Polish Universities Forum

Arkadiusz Smugowski, a student at the University of Wrocław, has been elected president of the Polish Universities Forum. He will succeed Tomasz Janocha from the University of Silesia in Katowice, who held the position for the last term.

The Polish Universities Forum is an autonomous agreement of student governments of universities affiliated to the Conference of Rectors of Polish Universities. It is one of ten branch committees of the Students’ Parliament of the Republic of Poland. During the reporting and election meeting held on Saturday, 20 January, at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, the composition of the presidium for the term 2024-2025 was elected.

Arkadiusz Smugowski, a fifth-year student of economics at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Wrocław, was elected President of the Polish Universities Forum. Since last year, he has been heading the Student Self-Government of the University of Wrocław. He is interested in geopolitics, financial markets and economics in the broadest sense.

The Polish Universities Forum is composed of the following members: Vice-President – Julia Przybyłowska (Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań), Vice-President – Aleksandra Zawadzka (Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin), and Secretary – Bartosz Gabrychowicz (University of Rzeszów). The term of office of the new authorities began on 1 February.

The Polish Universities Forum is a platform for cooperation, communication and exchange of opinions and experiences between representatives of student governments. It organises, among other things, the University Laurels Gala. The purpose of the Forum’s activities is to represent the interests and protect the rights of students, support student self-governments affiliated with the Polish Universities Forum, develop cooperation between these self-governments, care for the development of Polish higher education, promote academic ethos and university education, support the quality of education and student mobility. The Forum currently brings together student governments from 22 universities.
