Academy of World Cinema – third semester begins!

The New Horizons Association invites students and free students to the next semester of the Academy of World Cinema, which starts in March.

The third semester of the Academy of World Cinema consists of thirteen lectures devoted to the history of cinematography in the 1970s and 1980s. Over several months, students will examine, among other things, the American explosion of auteur, independent and exploitation cinema, see how the model of corporate Hollywood was born and how the formula for the modern blockbuster was shaped. A special place will be devoted to European films – Italian, German, British or Spanish – produced at a time of social and political unrest on the Old Continent. Participants will also learn about the origins of the global success of Australian cinema in the 1970s. They will also learn about declining modernism and emerging postmodernism, and the role played in the history of cinema by those films that were never made.

Deadline: Tuesdays, 5 pm

Pass price per semester: PLN 240 (available at the cinema box office and online, once you have signed up online for classes and received an email confirmation of your admission to the Academy of World Cinema CCA)

New semester classes: from 5 March 2024

The Academy of World Cinema is an original project initiated by the New Horizons Association. The whole constitutes a two-year (four-semester) course in film history. Entry to the Academy’s classes is on a first-come, first-served basis. It is not necessary to have completed an earlier semester of the course to be able to enrol for the next one. Selected Wroclaw universities, including the University of Wroclaw, honour Academy classes as optional and extra-curricular subjects (with ECTS credits).
