Conference for chemistry teachers

Last week Faculty of Chemistry held the IV Konferencja dla Nauczycieli Chemii (Conference for Chemistry Teachers) in partnership with Okręgowa Komisja Egzaminacyjna (District Examination Board) in Wrocław. The conference was nationwide. In addition to teachers from Lower Silesia, it was attended by teachers from Lesser Poland, Silesia and Opole Voivodeship. In total, there were 130 teachers.

Attendees were welcomed by: dr hab. Sławomir Berski, professor of University of Wrocław – dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, mgr Piotr Świędrych – head of the District Examination Board in Wrocław, and mgr Ewa Skrzywanek – Kurator Dolnośląski (Superintendent of Education in Lower Silesia).

Lectures for teachers were delivered by: dr hab. Marcin Sobczyk, professor of the University of Wrocław – vice-dean of the Faculty of Chemistry Rola edukacji w kształtowaniu i wspieraniu rozwoju Gospodarki Wodorowej: wyzwania i możliwości (The role of education in shaping and supporting the development of the Hydrogen Economy: challenges and opportunities) and dr inż. Anna Jedynak-Koczuk from the Central Examination Board Czy należy bać się chemii (Should one be afraid of chemistry).

A very well-attended segment of the conference – workshop on interesting experiments and current topics of the chemistry matura exam – was conducted by members of the Faculty of Chemistry.

Miareczkowanie pH-metryczne i potencjometryczne (pH-metric and potentiometric titration)

Chemistry Teaching Methodology Laboratory:

dr hab. Izabela Czeluśniak, dr Julia Kłak (Department of Inorganic Chemistry and Department of Chemistry Didactics)

Maturalne kolory chemii – eksperyment w zadaniach maturalnych (Chemistry matura exam’s colours – matriculation exam questions experiment)

All teachers received certificates of participation.
