Living Labs as part of Arqus Alliance – presentation at the Faculty of Biological Sciences
On 1 February, dr Agata Dorotkiewicz-Jach – a microbiologist, and Emilia Wilanowska – the director of the Arqus Office at the Faculty of Biological Sciences presented a concept of Living Labs as part of the Arqus Alliance. Following the Arqus Alliance meeting in Leipzig on 9 January, they provided attendees of the event with the latest Living Labs news.
According to the overall objectives of the Alliance, the Living Lab is a space for the community of the 9 Universities participating in Arqus, where an interdisciplinary and challenge-based approach is practised, addressing major societal challenges by establishing three priority areas of collaboration. For more information, see an interview with dr Dorotkiewicz-Jach.
However, after more than a year of Alliance existence, new ideas for the Living Lab have emerged. At the meeting in Leipzig, two approaches to the functioning of the lab were presented:
- The first approach promotes the specification of the type of activities that will be carried out within the Living Labs;
- the second promotes the concept of the Living Lab as a space offering opportunities for a variety of projects and activities.
In addition to the meeting at the Faculty of Biological Sciences – a virtual event with staff from the Faculty of Historical and Pedagogical Sciences was held on January 31. Further meetings with the Faculties will follow shortly.
