
Dr Bogdan Mincer passed away
With deep sorrow, we announce that on January 19, 2024, in Wrocław, dr Bogdan Mincer passed away.
He was born on March 9, 1952, in Toruń.
Throughout his academic life, Bogdan Mincer was associated with the Institute of Mathematics at the University of Wrocław. His scientific specialty was probability theory. He served the Institute’s community with good advice on many important matters. His selflessness, sound judgment, and commitment were always reliable.
As the Deputy Director of the Institute of Mathematics, he created a unique, modern program for mathematical studies. From 1996 to 2019, he was a member and later chairman of the board of the Scholarship Foundation for Wrocław Mathematicians, and then the Foundation of Wrocław Mathematicians. He was a member of the Main Board of the Polish Mathematical Society. He was awarded the Silver Cross of Merit (1999) and the Medal of the National Education Commission (2008).
A man of deep principles. A wonderful colleague and dedicated teacher. May his memory be honored.
The funeral ceremonies will begin on February 3, 2024, at 13:00 at St. James and St. Christopher’s parish cementery, ul. Gorlicka 19, Wrocław.
