Prof. Dr. Dres h.c. Friedrich – Christian Schroeder passed away
With deep sorrow, we announce that on 26.03.2024, at the age of 87, Prof. Dr. Dres h.c. Friedrich – Christian Schroeder passed away in Regensburg.
Professor Friedrich – Christian Schroeder was a Head of the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedural Law and Eastern Law (1968-2004) at the Faculty of Law of the University of Regensburg and also served as Dean (1971-72).
From 1973 to 2022 he was scientific head of the Institute of Eastern Law (Institut für Ostrecht) first in Munich, then in Regensburg. He held many positions in German and international scientific institutions and legal organisations.
In 1977, Professor F. C. Schroeder was one of the initiators of active cooperation between the law faculties of Regensburg and Wrocław, which continues to this day. He was a frequent guest and gave lectures at the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics of the University of Wrocław. His last paper in Wrocław was given at a Polish-German comparative law conference in June 2017.
In 1999, he received an honoris causa doctorate from the University of Wrocław.
