
The visit of the Ambassador of Sweden to the University of Wrocław
The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden, H.E. Andreas von Beckerath, made his first-ever visit to the Institute of International and Security Studies. The event was held on April 23, 2024, in Hall C of the UWr Institute of Political Science. Over 170 people, including students and staff, attended the meeting, where the Ambassador delivered a lecture titled “Sweden and Poland – a strong relationship in uncertain times.”
The event was very interactive, as students and staff had the opportunity to ask numerous questions during the keynote speech. Topics of discussion included Sweden’s membership in NATO, hybrid threats from Russia, Sweden’s role in EU climate policy, Poland-Sweden military cooperation, Sweden’s contribution to the security of Poland, the EU, and NATO, and challenges to Sweden’s security.
Before the event, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden, H.E. Andreas von Beckerath, met with dr hab. Maciej Cesarz, the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs at the University of Wrocław, and dr hab. prof. UWr Krzysztof Kociubiński, the Director of the Institute of International and Security Studies. Deputy Director for International Cooperation, Dr. Marek Musioł, was also present.
