The ranking is compiled by the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), a consulting organization providing strategic advice on improving the quality of higher education and research. CWUR publishes globally trusted university rankings known for their objectivity, transparency, and consistency.
Published since 2012, the CWUR rankings do not rely on information provided by universities or surveys. Data for the ranking is sourced from various bibliographic databases and publicly available sources. CWUR compares higher education institutions and research institutes in four categories:
- Quality of Education (25% weight)
- Employability (25% weight)
- Faculty (10% weight)
- Research Performance (40% weight)
In the most heavily weighted category, research performance, both the quantity and quality of research are considered. This includes the total number of scientific publications of an institution, publications in the most prestigious journals (top-tier), articles in the most influential journals, and citations.
Quality of education is assessed by the number of alumni who have won prestigious academic awards, adjusted for the size of the institution. In this category, the University of Wrocław ranked 482nd globally. In Poland, considering the quality of education indicator, we are third among all universities, surpassed only by Warsaw University of Technology and SGGW.
Alumni employment is measured by the number of graduates holding top executive positions in the world’s largest companies, adjusted for the size of the university. These companies are listed in the Forbes Global 2000.
The quality of faculty is evaluated by the number of staff members who have won prestigious academic awards (international prizes, medals, etc.). The quality of faculty is our university’s strongest point. The University of Wrocław ranked 263rd worldwide in this category.
