
FLAE UWr on the podium in the ranking of Gazeta Prawna!
The Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics of the University of Wrocław ranked third in the 18th Ranking of Law Faculties of Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, published today. In the category of quality and strength of education, FLAE UWr is first in Poland. A place among the top law faculties is a huge success, achieved thanks to the staff, doctoral students and students of FLAE UWr.
The first place in the ranking of public universities went to the Faculty of Law and Administration of Jagiellonian University scoring 102.30 pts, followed by the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics of Warsaw University with 99.05 pts. FLAE UWr scored 97.20 pts.
The DGP ranking is the oldest of its kind in Poland. Gazeta Prawna creates a separate summary for public and non-public universities. Among non-public universities, Lazarski University in Warsaw is the leader, followed by Kozminski University in Warsaw in second place and Kujawsko-Pomorska University in Bydgoszcz in third place.
Law faculties are evaluated based on a wide variety of indicators in four categories: staffing, quality and strength of education, requirements for students and quality of graduates, and pass rate for legal applications. Analyzing the ranking methodology, it can be seen that in the category of quality and strength of education FLAE UWr won the first place in Poland.
Methodology of legal sciences
In the “personnel” category, in which it was possible to gain a maximum of 31 pts, the evaluations included the number of newly hired employees in relation to all academics (max. 1.5 pts), the number of foreign employees teaching law students (max. 2 pts), the number of students per academics (max. 6 pts), the number of scientific publications (books) by faculty members in relation to the number of employees (max. 4 pts), the number of scientific publications by faculty members in relation to the number of employees (max. 2 pts), the number of research grants received (max. 3.5 pts), the number of scientific publications of faculty members included in the Scopus database in relation to the number of employees (max. 2 pts), the number of professorships achieved by faculty members (max. 4 pts), the number of postdoctoral degrees achieved by faculty members (max. 3 pts), and the participation of employees in chief state bodies, local governments or professional corporations (max. 2 pts).
In examining the quality and conditions of education, as many as 22 indicators were taken into account. In this category, universities were able to score the most, with 45.5 pts. The highest scores were: the ability to confer a postdoctoral degree (max. 7 pts.), the ability to confer a doctoral degree (max. 5 pts.), the operation of a foreign law school (max. 3 pts.), the operation of a law clinic (max. 2 pts.), number of international full-time and online conferences organized by the faculty (max. 3.5 pts.), number of computer workstations with LEX or equivalent software per 100 law students (max. 3 pts.), honors and external awards received by the faculty, its staff and students (max. 2.5 pts.).
In the category of requirements for students and the quality of graduates (34.5 pts.), scores included the careers of graduates based on the nationwide system for monitoring the economic fate of university graduates (max. 6 pts.), the number of hours of practice required to take the exam (max. 5.24 pts), current academic category (max. 4 pts), current evaluation by the Polish Accreditation Commission (max. 3 pts), , obligation to pass a foreign language exam (max. 3.5 pts), number of compulsory subjects completed by exam (max. 2.5 pts).
In the pass rate category for legal applications, one could score a maximum of 10 pts.
