FLAE UWr teaches the best lawyers – “Rzeczpospolita” ranking

The Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics at the University of Wrocław teaches the best lawyers in Poland, and university candidates already know it! FLAE UWr ranked third in the 13th edition of the “Rzeczpospolita” Ranking of Law Faculties in the category of public universities, and first in terms of popularity of universities among candidates wishing to study law.

maximum of 30 points. The ranking methodology takes into account three categories: scientific potential (max. 12 points), quality of education (max. 16 points) and cooperation with foreign countries (2 points).

The high level of competition at the top is evidenced by the small difference in points between the ranking leaders. FLAE UWr received 19.7 points – just 1.9 points less than second-place Warsaw University (21.6 points) and 3.1 points less than the winner, Jagiellonian University (22.8 points)

Such a good result for the University of Wrocław testifies to both the high quality of research work and teaching in the field of law.

In the Academic Potential indicator, points were awarded for the following: academic category, number of faculty with degrees relative to the number of students, number of doctoral and postdoctoral degrees awarded in 2023 relative to the number of stunts, doctoral and postdoctoral licenses, number of doctoral students and doctoral school participants, and the PKA Certificate of Educational Excellence (a new indicator).

Indicators of the quality of education included the pass rate for the application, the number of applicants per full-time place, the relative unemployment rate of graduates after obtaining a diploma, the relative earnings rate of graduates after obtaining a diploma, professional practice (number of students per tutor) and the number of winners of Olympiads admitted to the university.

Cooperation with foreign countries was assessed taking into account the percentage of foreign students to total students and studies conducted in English. The weight of this category was reduced this year from 4 to 2 points.

Dean of the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics at the University of Wroclaw, dr hab. Jacek Przygodzki, prof. UWr, commenting on the results of the ranking, emphasizes the importance of academic staff in keeping the quality of teaching consistently high:

“The department’s offerings are special and stand out in many ways. First of all, I mean the quality of teaching, and this is determined by the research and teaching staff. I would like to emphasize that many of our employees are prominent and active practicing lawyers, which translates very well into combining theory and practice in the didactic process. In addition, the experience of the staff proves itself in the development of curricula, as well as in the implementation of educational activities with the participation of our students, such as the operation of the University Legal Clinic, the conduct of simulated court hearings, as well as the newly opened Virtual Reality room. The faculty has easy access to modern IT solutions, and is introducing e-learning. Participate in scientific discourse, nationally and internationally. The faculty annually ranks high in the top rankings of universities, confirming the education of the best students in the country. The discipline of legal sciences, represented by our department, has been given a high scientific category A, and the University of Wrocław has the status of a research university.”
