Miniatures for our scientists
„Sytuacja polityczno-prawna zakonów niemieckich migrujących ze Śląska na tereny niemieckie po zakończeniu II wojny światowej” – is the title of a project by dr Edyta Włodarczyk-Czech, for which the scientist received a grant in the NCN MINIATURA 8 competition (PLN 22 319.00).
– The main objective of the queries (as part of this grant) is to analyse the fate of the German religious population after they left the territories annexed to Poland after World War II and to establish their political and legal situation in the new territories, says our researcher. – Investigating their migratory movements and legal-political position from both Polish and German perspectives will enable us to learn about the development of not only Polish but also German religious law, as well as providing an opportunity to deepen our knowledge of Polish-German relations in the first years after the end of the Second World War.
Why are you interested in this topic? – I am currently deepening my research on the fate of Catholic orders after World War II, which previously went beyond the scope of my doctoral dissertation on the attitude of the state towards Catholic orders in the Wrocław voivodship in the years 1945-1956 – explains dr Edyta Włodarczyk-Czech. – I am also developing my research into the relationship between the Polish and German Roman Catholic Churches, as well as the Polish and German Protestant Churches.
The grant will be used for a scientific search in Berlin and will allow for an in-depth knowledge of the German context in order to remain as objective as possible in future research. The search is part of the preparation for a future research project planned for submission to NCN or other national or international competitions (in particular the development of the methodology needed for this).
The use of sources available in foreign centres (in the country directly affected by the research) and the establishment of cooperation with foreign prestigious scientific centres will allow me to raise the scientific level of my research, which is largely concerned with religious law – the researcher argues.
In the future, she intends to continue her academic research in the field of religious law in the broadest sense, as well as in the field of state and legal history, which she also deals with on a daily basis.
In addition to dr Edyta Włodarczyk-Czech, 63 people will carry out preliminary research, pilot studies, queries, scientific internships, research and consultancy trips thanks to funding from the MINIATURA 8 competition.
From UWr, a total of five people received grants in the July Miniatures Award. In addition to dr Edyta Włodarczyk-Czech, they were awarded to:
dr Konrad Lipiński for the project ‘Przestępstwa “bez winy”‘ (PLN 21 300.00)
dr Olga Hałub-Kowalczyk for the project ‘Prawo dostępu do wody w prawie międzynarodowym’ (PLN 20 269.00)
dr Alicja Sielska for the project ‘Celowe postarzanie produktu w oparciu o kreację potrzeb ludzkich z uwzględnieniem różnic płciowych – analiza zjawiska na przykładzie wybranych miast Polski’ (23 000,00 zł)
dr Marcin Borowski for the project ‘Obrazy “psychopatów” w twórczości Fiodora Dostojewskiego’ (PLN 6 325.00)
The aim of the MINIATURA competition is to support scientific activities that are the starting point for developing the premises of a research project, the financing of which can then be applied for in NCN competitions or other national and international competitions. During the eighth edition of the competition it was possible to obtain funding of between PLN 5,000 and PLN 50,000 for the implementation of an annual scientific activity. Read more:
