The Community of Ukrainian Students and Academicians (WUSA) is already active!
On 1 October 2024, the Community of Ukrainian Students and Academicians was established within the walls of the University of Wroclaw. WUSA is the first Ukrainian student community during the time of the University of Wrocław, with the aim of integrating Ukrainian students into Polish society. The community took almost a whole year to form, starting its existence with social integration meetings in a small but nevertheless passionate group of Ukrainian students.
At the very beginning of the history of the creation of a community, on 13 October 2023, the first lecture for the Ukrainian student community in Wrocław was given by Ukrainian decision-maker Mirosław Marynowicz in collaboration with prof. Jarosław Syrnyk and the organiser of the event, dr Arsen Yatsenko. The fiery nature of the speaker and his wisdom on contemporary factors in the creation of good and democratic relations between Poland and Ukraine inspired the students to think about creating a community that would not only support the young power in the integration processes, but at the same time create space around each other for the common good of both nations.
Throughout the year, the students met regularly discussing the creation of the organisation, discussing its future statutes, roles and importance to society, trying to find the right decisions towards creating a good and progressive team, not forgetting to respect the culture in which they now have to find themselves.
In spite of the numerous official meetings, the students met more than once for social and recreational purposes, which more than once strengthened the social relations between the members of the community, creating a warm and homely atmosphere for all.
After approving the statutes, holding elections and receiving a decision from the authorities of the University of Wrocław, the WUSA began its existence headed by Daniel Bielecki, a law student from the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics, who was authorised to take on the role of President of the organisation. WUSA is made up of five departments: recruitment, information and legal, volunteering, media and culture.
For the time being, recruitment to each of these departments is taking place: any willing member of the Wrocław student community is entitled to join. WUSA is waiting for your applications!
