University of Wrocław at the Wrocław Mineral and Jewellery Exchange

We cordially invite you to the 1st Wrocław Mineral and Jewellery Exchange ‘Pod Platanami’, which will take place on 14.09.2024 on the beautiful Zwierzycki Boulevard by the Pomeranian Bridge.

The event, in which the UWr Institute of Geological Sciences will participate, is held under the patronage of His Magnificence the Rector of the University of Wrocław, prof. dr hab. Robert Olkiewicz.

Residents of Wrocław, tourists and nature lovers will have the opportunity to see the largest professional stand with UV-light minerals, fossils, minerals from all over the world and jewellery.

Parents with children and young people are invited to take part in interesting workshops where they can feel like explorers of the treasures hidden in the earth.

Dr Magdalena Modelska from the Institute of Geological Sciences will take you on a journey through time, and Wrocław artist Albert Wrotnowski will create a cupcake sculpture in front of your eyes from minerals found in Lower Silesia and hand it over to you as part of the action# takefreecake. This event, which takes place periodically in various public spaces, aims to present the art of hand sculpting, which makes use of the geological wealth of a particular region.

lecture by dr Magdalena Modelska (13:00): ‘Żeglując przez czas – GEOBALTIC ADVENTURE 2024’. – a report on the expedition of the Student Scientific Association of Geologists of the University of Wrocław on the sailing ship STS ‘Generał Zaruski’.
