Sports cards for UWr doctoral students!

Dear Doctoral Students,
On behalf of the Doctoral Student Self-Government of the University of Wrocław, we are pleased to announce an important achievement. As you may remember, for the past two years we have been trying to launch a sports card program for doctoral students. We are happy to announce that this program has started this month, and enrollment has been extended especially for you until 20 October!
Background and past activities
The initiative to introduce sports cards dates back to 2015, when the then Rector, prof. Marek Bojarski, and Rafał Mundra, Chairman of the Doctoral Student Self-Government, signed an agreement with OKSystem to sell individual sports passes for doctoral students and their accompanying persons. Unfortunately, the contract was terminated due to the liquidation of OKSystem, resulting in no sports offering of this type available for years to come.
To meet the numerous inquiries from doctoral students, in early 2023 the Doctoral Student Council, chaired by Łukasz Rozwadowski, launched an effort to renew the sports card program. I continued this work as 1st Vice President of the Council, serving in this capacity during Anna Brzostowska’s term. Over the past two years, we have conducted intensive negotiations with various sports providers, consultations among doctoral students, as well as discussions with University authorities, including His Magnificence the Rector, prof. Robert Olkiewicz.
As a result, a final agreement with Medicover Sport was signed three weeks ago.
Why did we choose Medicover Sport?
In the course of our market analysis, we focused on the two most popular sports providers, Multisport and Medicover. Medicover offered a wider range of facilities both in Wrocław and throughout Poland, more favorable prices and greater flexibility in choosing packages. It is worth mentioning that the prices of the proposed Medicover packages are more attractive than standard gym passes available on the market.

To start using the program, please follow these steps:
- Go to: https://medicoversport.pl/pakiety/uniwersytetwroclawski
- Enter the password: UniwersytetwroclawskiMS2024.
- Click “Zarejestruj się/Register” (yellow button in the upper right corner).
NOTE: Registration is open until the 15th of each month. If you sign up after this date, you will be able to use the package from the following month. Especially for you, registration in October has been extended until 20 October 2024.
When registering, use an email address in the @uwr.edu.pl domain, which allows you to verify your doctoral student status. You can also add a companion or child in the form by selecting the appropriate package.
At the end of the form is a “Zapłać/Pay” button that will redirect to the payment page. Once the payment card is plugged in, the monthly subscription begins. The minimum subscription period is one month, and changes or cancellations to the package can be submitted from the 1st to the 15th of each month, effective for the following month.
NOTE: The flurry of business with the new academic year made you forget to sign up for sports cards from Medicover Sport? Don’t worry! Especially for you, we are extending the enrollment until 20 October 2024! Don’t miss this opportunity!
What if I lose my doctoral student status?
If you lose your status as a doctoral student, your contract will be automatically terminated, as only doctoral students (including those on extension) are entitled to use the packages.
When do we start?
The use of Medicover cards will be possible from 1 November 2024.
