BIP Erasmus+ at the University of Murcia
The subject “Personality and linguistic and cultural mediation” (3 ECTS; ref. 2023-1-ES01-KA131-HED-000118257-1), organized as part of the Erasmus+ short-term mobility, the so-called Blended Intensive Program/BIP, was very successful. The coordinator of the project from Spain, the University of Murcia (Universidad de Murcia/UMU) – Faculty of Letters (Facultad de Letras) – invited the University of Wrocław to cooperate (the largest group, with 42 students), Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznan (UAM; 7 students), Università degli Studi di Firenze (UNIFI; 5 students), and Università degli Studi di Milano (UNIMI; 4 students).
The remote component of the course (6 hours) took place in the first three weeks of November 2024 using the Zoom application and the UMU Aula Virtual platform, while the onsite component included lectures and after-hours workshops conducted at UMU in Murcia from 25-29 November 2024. The classes covered topics such as self-efficacy, self-esteem, self-concept; personality traits; emotions and their role in written and oral linguistic mediation; positive psychology and motivation; time, emotions and stress management; assertiveness and conflict resolution; applications and benefits of mindfulness.
For course credit, students, assigned to their respective working groups, were tasked with recording scenes of simulated interpreting and developing infographics on topics selected by the coordinators.
Social events offered to participants included guided walks through Murcia and a visit to the museum of the convent of the Poor Clare nuns, which dates back to the 14th century.
During the stationary component of the BIP, representatives of the UWr Institute of Romance Studies (dr Anna Kuźnik, dr Justyna Salamon and dr Jadwiga Cook) held an information meeting for UMU research and teaching staff and students on the possibilities of coming to the UWr as part of Erasmus+ short- and long-term mobility, as well as studying in English and other forms of pursuing teaching and research cooperation with the University of Wrocław.
The BIP staff at the UWr Institute of Romance Studies (dr Anna Kuźnik, dr Jadwiga Cook, dr Justyna Wesoła, M.A. Monika Szmulewska, dr Justyna Salamon), from where as many as 37 students came, would like to thank the UWr students themselves for their exemplary behavior and substantive commitment, the coordinators from UMU (dr Paula Cifuentes Férez, dr Ana Isabel Foulquié Rubio, dr Arianna Alessandro) and the team of UMU students receiving foreign visitors; to the coordinators and students from UAM, UNIFI, and UNIMI; to all the teaching staff giving lectures and workshops; to the Erasmus+ coordinators from other UWr Institutes and Departments; and to the management and team of the UWr International Office for organising and conducting this event. In total, the BIP participants were students coming from four UWr faculties: from the Faculty of Languages, Cultures and Literatures, Faculty of Letters, Faculty of Historical and Pedagogical Sciences and Faculty of Social Sciences.
The note was prepared by: dr Anna Kuźnik of the Institute of Romance Studies, BIP coordinator at the University of Wrocław
